攝影技術有多重要?或說,攝影師的攝影技術要多好才夠?
布列松:“只要你能清楚地用照片說完你想要說的故事就夠了。”
布列松從來就不是個器材控。在《The Decisive Moment》一書中編輯提到布列松,嘗試過很多不同器材,外出拍攝時通常就是一台相機,一兩顆不常用到的不同焦段鏡頭,僅此而已。
他說他的責任從來都不是交代自己用什麼器材,或什麼相機設定去拍了某張照片。他只負責用最後的成品,也就是“照片”交代他想說的事件。這讓我想起在 Alex Webb 的工作坊裡,有位學員問他相機的型號跟鏡頭,Alex Webb 直接回他不知道。
在決定你要投入多少時間學“技術”,跟買哪台”相機“之前,先搞清楚你想要透過攝影做什麼。

很喜歡的三位創作者喚起了想收藏The Decisive Moment這本攝影集的衝動:Matisse替Henri Cartier-Bresson 畫的書封,以及Bresson在他著名Leica鏡頭下紀錄了作家Truman Capote的影像。
